Region, language and programme are separate choices

Choose the province, territory or city relevant to your listening task before comparing a station's language. An English-language country result does not identify a local bulletin, and a French-language result does not by itself select the regional edition you want. Start with Canada in the radio map, inspect the available region and language fields, and confirm missing information with the original station.

For a local discussion, keep the region and intended day alongside the station name. For music, try the programme and check its schedule rather than assuming a single genre label describes the whole station. For language practice, select a repeatable programme or episode on the original service when you need to revisit the same material; a changing live feed serves a different purpose.

Compare the collection with original listening services

CBC describes CBC Listen as its English-language radio destination, including Radio One stations and CBC Music content. Use the broadcaster's own service when you need its station choices and programme resources. The directory below does not promise that every CBC service or regional edition is carried in PocketWorld.

For ICI Première, Radio-Canada's schedule instructions explain choosing a region and day and opening a programme from the schedule. Make those choices before comparing a remembered broadcast hour. Our French-language Canadian radio guide explains the listening formats in more detail.

Read the retained sample before opening the player

  1. Check the station name, region and languages shown in the sample.
  2. Open the Canadian radio collection and select the intended record.
  3. Start playback and use its current success or failure result.
  4. Keep the broadcaster's original programme page for a show you want to revisit.

The sample contains eligible catalog entries ordered by name, rather than a complete directory of Canadian broadcasters. Several entries can refer to related services, while some stations may have no currently eligible record. A missing language or region is a metadata gap, not evidence that the broadcast has no regional audience. The timestamp concerns the catalog; individual playback evidence has its own lifetime.

Use the right reference for the listening task

CBC and Radio-Canada supply the original service information linked above. Community radio needs a station-level check as well: the Canadian campus and community radio guide provides a separate discovery workflow. For television and parliamentary viewing, use the Canadian TV directory instead of assuming an audio result represents a video feed.

Coverage and availability

A stream can become unavailable after a catalog load or have its own access conditions. An empty sample does not establish that Canada has no stations, or that a particular broadcaster is offline. Check the original service and the player result, then return to the world radio directory for other collections. The methodology explains how retained source evidence differs from a new observation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the Canada filter select a local CBC or Radio-Canada edition?

It groups country records. Check the selected station, its regional metadata and the broadcaster's original service to identify an edition.

Are all Canadian stations bilingual?

The country label makes no language promise. Use the record's available languages and the selected programme's own information.

Why is the retained sample empty?

No entry currently meets the public playback checks in the available snapshot, or the snapshot is unavailable. This does not describe the availability of every Canadian broadcaster.
